Until recently Dutch optical chains Pearle and Eyewish were not very active at Facebook but both chains seem to have changed their minds. Eyewish advertises quite intensive and has about 6.000 friends now. Pearle just started a major campaign to collect old frames for a goodwill project at Sri Lanka. The promotion runs completely at the Facebook page. Just like Specsavers both companies mix these kind of goodwill promotions with an unrivalled price competition. All efforts are made to seduce people to come to the stores but the quality imago suffers from the focus on price and needs to be polished as well. Facebook is a perfect and very cheap tool to do so!
