As always the SILMO offered a range of more or less interesting products and developments. Maybe a little bit surprisingly MENRAD introduced a new collection designed by L’Wren Scott. The former fashion model and now renowned designer does have her own fashion collection for some years now and adds sunglasses and prescription frames to it. She herself was at the fair to introduce it and did so very charming and with a lot of passion. Mykita continues to invest in its 3D technology and introduced a series of wearable sunglasses and prescription frames made of Mylon. Once again the Berlin designers show themselves real visionairs as 3D technics certainly will play an important role in the production of all kind of products in the future. New York based MODO launched ECO by MODO 2.1. The famous Stockholm Design Lab, known for its work for great brands like Ikea and Scandinavian Airlines, did the restyling of the successful collection and will assist MODO in developing ECO by MODO as a worldwide brand. ECO produces sustainable eyewear made for 95% out of recycled materials. This is a nice bridge to another important development. More and more companies use natural materials like wood for the production of their collections. Unfortunately this results in many copycats as well. Top stores know how to divide the real brands from the fake ones and realize more as ever that they need to cooperate with those who provide added value to make the difference now and in the future.
Just some SILMO impressions
