Last year Boss appointed the young New-York-based designer Jason Wu as creative director responsible for its womenswear. Quite a serious career move for Wu who became known with his own brand when Michèle Obama choose to wear his creations at the inauguration ceremonies of her husband and Target asked him to design a collection for their stores. Boss sales totalled about 2,4 billion euro in 2013 and the brand has about 7000 points of sale worldwide whereas Wu with his own label and 35 employees serves about 170 stores in 39 countries. Indeed a major step forward but Wu doesn’t look impressed and seems to have it all under control. His new position however means a lot more publicity especially while his first collection got great reviews and will be in store this Autumn. Boss Eyewear is produced and distributed by Safilo while the sunglasses and prescription frames for his own Jason Wu label are produced and sold by MODO New York.
