The discounting Dutch optical chains do have a new active competitor. In the last months Eyelove worked hard to extend its distribution network and today the brand can be found in 95 DA drugstores. Now that the formula is active countrywide, it starts to become worthwhile to advertise like last Saturday with half a page in newspapers such as the Telegraaf and today with full pages in other daily newspapers. Smart enough with a promotion for a spare frame, pointing out to the holiday season which is about to begin. This will attract many people and a cheap spare frame is easily bought this way. Good promotion by Eyelove and the first time the new chain challenges its competitors like Specsavers and Hans Anders. Interesting to see whether they will react or not and if so, how they will do that.
