Since last year Luxottica already owned 40% of Multiopticas Internacional which with 470 stores devided over Peru, Columbia, Chili and Ecuador, plays an important role in the region. This week the Italian optical giant announced to use the opportunity to buy another 57% of the shares and become the almost sole owner of the South American chain with 97% of the shares. More and more companies consider South America as a major emerging market and invest in the expected future growth in the region. Last year sales of Multiopticas totalled about 80 million euro, this year the company expect to increase sales to about 95 million euro.
