Many opticians recently opened personal or business pages on Facebook but most of them have problems to create “friends” and “followers”. In addition it is rather difficult to create the right content to share. Uzimi is a new Dutch initiative, focusing on young boys and girls and inviting them to join the Facebook pages of the participating opticians. The youngsters can enter a competition and win interesting prizes. The initiative is completely new, the website www.uzimi.nl is just recently launched and opticians are still welcome to join the project. It is quite interesting to follow this experiment and participating opticians will certainly learn and get more experience in how to deal with social media which will play an important role in future communication.
