Sales and profit development at Luxottica show that the optical industry worldwide has recovered well from a less good period with decreasing sales and profits. The company posted record sales of 5.798 million euro in 2010. Ray-Ban, Oakley and Sunglass Hut are the best performing brands but premium labels like Chanel, Burberry and Prada show signs of recovery as well. Geographically North America, Asia, some countries in South America and in Eastern Europe performed very well. Europe itself stayed behind with a growth less than average. Remarkable is the good performance of the wholesale division in Korea, India and Japan whereas the stores in Asia still showed decreases in sales. All in all very positive results for Luxottica and quite a positive indication for the developments in the industry. Forecasts for 2011 are positive as well. Without unforeseen developments this year the company will certainly pass the 6 billion euro sales.
