Yesterday Luxottica Group posted its results for the second quarter and first half year of 2010. Supported by a nice Summer and a relatively weak euro against the dollar and profiting from all efficiency operations which started last year, the company in the second quarter almost reached sales of 1,6 billion euro. That is at current exchange rates 13,8% more as in the same period last year. Net profit increased with more as 30% to slightly more as 150 million euro. In the first half of the year Luxottica reached sales of 2.986,8 million euro. Net profit in the first six months increased with 26,3% tot 245 million euro. Wholesale and retail both did a good job. Ray-Ban and Oakley are still the most successful brands and from a retail point of view the company profited from the opening of the Sunglass Hut stores in the Macy department stores in North America. The two recently opened flagship stores also performed well. Internationally the company increased sales in Europe and America, also thanks to the already mentioned good Summer which significantly stimulates sales of sunglasses, and in emerging markets like Korea, China, India, Brazil and Eastern Europe.
