The Chinese market with billions of potential clients, is a major target for the eyewear industry. Yesterday Marcolin announced the founding of a new company in collaboration with the Chinese contactlens manufacturer Ginko. Both Marcolin and Ginko acquired a 50% stake in Ginlin Optical Shanghai Ltd. Co. Ginko owns contactlens brand Hydron and is, with sales of more than 500 million dollar yearly, the largest player in the Chinese optical market. The goal of the collaboration is to increase sales and distribution of the Marcolin brands in China.
