Luxottica closed the year 2013 with a record sales of 7,3 billion euro. However, partly due to less favorite exchange rates, the growth in the fourth quarter was minimal. In the last three months of the year the retail division even did less good as in the same months in 2012. Remarkable was the contribution of Europe with a serious increase in sales, especially in Germany and France. Together with the good results in emerging markets like Brazil, China and Turkey this increase contributed significantly to the positive results. Total sales in 2013 increased with 3,2%. The wholesale division did much better as the stores which, despite good results at Sunglass Hut, did not show an increase. All in all a good year for the optical giant but no spectacular results despite for example the extra sales from the newly acquired Armani licenses.
