Last week the city of Amsterdam breathed fashion. At the catwalk of the Amsterdam Fashion Week a variety of designers showed their new creations. With Mercedes Benz as the new main sponsor the event got a remarkable quality boost. Presentation, ambiance and organization were great. Unfortunately we didn’t spot a lot of (sun)glasses at the catwalk. Although Specsavers exclusively produces and sells the eyewear collections of the Dutch designers Francisco van Benthum and Spijkers and Spijkers and usually loves to use every opportunity to promote them, apparently both designers considered their “own” eyewear not interesting enough to integrate in their shows. Spijkers and Spijkers showed their SIS collection so maybe that was the reason but at Francisco it was certainly remarkable that we did not see any glasses. Lots of people missed the show and the famous afterparty by Club BRILLANT although Not Just Vision compensated this a little bit with its collaboration with Björn Borg which showed one day before the official start of the Amsterdam Fashion Week. That show featured the sunglasses of Italia Independent which fitted perfectly to the colourful sportswear of Björn Borg and got great reactions from buyers and press.
