As Luxottica and Safilo reported growth of sales in the first six months of this year, Marcolin had to face a slight decrease compared to the same period last year. Increases in Asia, America and the Middle East could not compensate the decrease of 15% in Europe, still the most important market for Marcolin. The company suffered from bad economic developments in Italy, Spain and Portugal. Despite the decrease in sales the company reported a net profit of 12,6 million euros and diminished its net debts. The focus for the rest of the year as well as for the near future will be on the emerging markets. For that reason Marcolin remains positive about future results.
