Essilor, after approval of the authorities, definitely acquires 50% of the shares of the Israelian supplier Shamir Optical. Shamir realized sales of 158 million dollar in 2010, mainly with the sales of lenses in Europe and the United States of America. Essilor considers the acquisition as an important step in its strategy to increase its offer in the middle segment of the market. The current management team of Shamir continues to lead the company. All shares will be taken from the Nasdaq and the stock exchange at Tel Aviv.
